AI visibility

AI visibility for personal injury attorneys

When an injured person asks an AI assistant which attorney to call, the answer names a handful of firms. Your firm is in it or it is not, and there is no second page to be on. AI visibility for a law firm is the work of being one of the names — making your practice legible, consistent and quotable to the systems now answering that question.

Named is not ranked

A search results page has ten places on it and a second page behind that. An answer has about four names in it and nothing behind it. A firm can hold the top search position for its county and never appear in the answer, because the two are decided differently and by different evidence.

Nobody is told when they are left out. There is no ranking report for an answer, no notification, and no record that the conversation happened at all.

We publish dated runs of exactly this question rather than describing it — every question asked, every name returned, the sources behind each answer, and what we failed to record. The Palm Beach County run is here, and the rest are here. No firm commissioned them and none is a client.

Why a firm gets named

Not because it is the best firm. An assistant cannot judge that and does not try. It assembles an answer from what it can find, read and resolve about the firms in a category, and it names the ones it is confident it understands.

That turns on two things, and neither of them is how your website looks. What other sites say about you — legal directories occupy a surprising share of these answers, because they are quotable, consistent and everywhere, and they are competing with your firm for the same few places. And whether a machine can tell your firm apart from another with a similar name — same surname, same county, two addresses, and the evidence for you gets split between entities that each look half-convincing.

Both are fixable, and neither takes years the way a reputation does.

Check your own county

Ask an assistant who to call for a personal injury attorney in your county. Use the question a client would use, not your firm’s name. Write down every name it gives. That list is who you are competing with for the answer, and it is probably not the list you expected.

Then ask it what it knows about your firm by name, and read back the practice areas, the county and the address.

Questions people ask

How do I find out if AI recommends my law firm?

Ask an AI assistant who to call for a personal injury attorney in your county, using the words a client would use rather than your firm's name, and write down every name it returns. Repeat it with four or five differently worded versions, because the wording changes the answer.

Why does an AI assistant name directories instead of law firms?

Directories are consistent, quotable and present everywhere, which makes them easy for a machine to resolve and cite. They take places in the answer that would otherwise go to a practice, and our published Palm Beach County run shows how many.

Does being the best-reviewed firm mean AI will recommend me?

No. An assistant is not assessing quality of representation. It assembles an answer from information it can find and verify, so a firm with scattered or inconsistent information can be left out of an answer that names less established competitors.

How many firms does an AI answer actually name?

A handful each time, and the list changes with the wording of the question. Our published runs record exactly which names came back for each question and how often, so the spread can be checked rather than taken on trust.
